Tarot for Today ~ 03/04/19

TAROT FOR TODAY – your daily close-up of the cards!

Everyone who is familiar with Tarot will know that the 10 of Swords is one of the least favourable cards in the deck ~ often people would rather draw Death or The Devil than this Minor Arcana card. Although this card does suggest overkill, it isn’t all bad! It signals you’ve reached the end of a cycle and you are bottoming out. You have weathered the worst of it, and the only way to go from here is up!

As it is a Minor Arcana card, it means you are at the wheel. You have some influence on what is happening and there will be choices you can make to minimise the impact here.

Traditionally, the figure in the card is laying face-down, pierced by the swords and suffering great blood-loss. But can you tell for sure that (s)he is dead?

Some cards clearly show they are not, like in the Anna K. Tarot or The Everyday Witch.

Often his card depicts a dark, moonless night, but with a slight hint of a sunrise playing along the horizon to signal there will be another dawn.

To me, what has died here is your old way of doing things – it clearly wasn’t working for you or you would not be in this position! Swords as a suit are about intelligence, clear thinking, getting to the heart of the matter – here you are forced to come up with an out-of-the-box solution, a new way of looking at/dealing with the problem.

You may just surprise yourself with what you can think of…

Although this is one of the cards that COULD in some cases speak of an actual death, usually people associate this card with betrayal or being stabbed in the back by someone you trusted, and that can be a very accurate interpretation.

In my experience, the 10 of Swords can also herald major surgery, back trouble, or even the need for accupuncture!

So buckle in for a bumpy ride, be prepared for trouble, but don’t run away screaming just yet!
